About PrincessI was given Princess when I was 15. We haven't done much competing but we've come a very long way. We do quite a bit of NH and our favorite party trick is simply leading her at liberty, you'd be surprised how impressive it is to some people!

I often refer to her as a Ferrari she's small, fast and turns on a dime

So I've been thinking about the horror ride I had on Princess on Wednesday and I think I've found the reason. I think she misses jumping!

So I've had her since I was about 15 and I'd never really cared for dressage we did a lot of trails and jumping in the paddock. I've never ridden such a naturally talented jumper, to be fair haven't ridden many good horses.

She is all guts. At riders club we'd jump with the 'big class' so were with eventers mostly about 16h with lots of experience. She was one of the instructors favorites as she never hesitated at any jump. She'd race around a sj course slightest pressure on the rein and she'd turn on a dime without slowing. We soon gave up slowing her down always had control just went fast she'd not hit a single pole unless I stuffed her up.

XC was a similar story except for the water jump! Jumps could be as big as they wanted as bright as they wanted and she wouldn't blink. I think in the 7 years I've had her she refused/ran out of 10 jumps.

Our best moment:

One day the instructor set up a jump for one of the other girls a BIG oxer, this girl was competing successfully on her experienced 17hh eventer. She went over it and he sent me over. No kidding the jump must have been just under 5ft (measures up to the shoulders of the 5'6 guy putting the poles up. I told the instructor he was crazy he told me to try it. So I pointed her at it nice forward canter shut my eyes and prepared for the refusal. She FLEW over it no hesitation! Then did it 3 times with my eyes open.

Since then she's had a few leg injuries and developed arthritis, turns out she was jumped 6ft as a 3yo.

We've recently started jumping again and though she'll never jump as high I'd love to gt her back up to 3rd.

We've been doing a bit of work on our dressage both bareback and under saddle.

As always she's a marey mare but everyone loves handling her.

There have been a few times I've used her for lessons when kids are wary of leading 'bigger' horses because she's so easy to lead they don't need to push her to go forwards or stop.
