Well, this Eventer-trying-out-Hunters' first show is in 2 short days, on Saturday!
The barn where we board is the one hosting the show and ALL of their temporary stalls are rented out, so this show is going to be HUGE! I'm excited and nervous at the same time - excited for a new discipline to see what it brings, but nervous because we're so used to consistently placing top 2 in Eventing (schooling shows) or top 3 (recognized) and with a whole new disclipline and a class of 30-some others, I don't see us placing AT ALL this weekend!
And yes, I know it's not about the ribbons, it's about the experience, which I do realize I promise! But to place would certainly affirm for me that I made the right choice for us by switching and trying something else out. I'm glad I at least have a trainer though, who can show me the Hunter ropes and let me know how we did not compared to the other 30, but compared to what we know and what's good for us
Anyway, just had to get this out there to calm my nerves a bit...I know I'm VERY hard on myself and it's hard for me NOT to be competitive, but I am trying to stay focused and remember it's just a schooling show and it's for FUN and learning!!!! WISH US LUCK! I just hope I can walk away from it feeling like we gave it our all and did our best, that's all I can really hope for
