silver stirrups vs black stirrups

I am in Minnesota and I have been using the silver stirrups for the past 5 years. We just went down to the Minnesota Horse Expo and we were informed that the majority of the people now are buying the black stirrups. What is your opinion. I bought a pair of the black ones, but I am still wondering which is more appropriate for the show ring. I show in WSCA shows and I compete in 4-H

I like silver better for the hunter rings but black for jumpers. I think that the silver looks sharper.

Find out if your association allows them first. Mine does not, Equine Canada.

Steel stirrups will probably always be my favorite. They heavy duty, simple, and classic. People like the black stirrups because they are lightweight not necessarily for looks. However, USEF just banned them from equitation classes because it's too hard for judges to see the riders leg properly.

I was at the horse expo in minnesota and they convinced me that the higher up showers are using the black stirrups now, so I got them for my new saddle. I have a black saddle for hunter under saddle and equitation. I think I am going to sell the whole works and buy a brown saddle with the silver irons. I wish the tack store would not have mislead me with this issue:/
