Just once, I'd like to see some super cool punk with his pants around his knees try to get on a horse. Just once.

'Course, it wouldn't be very nice for the horse. But maybe the horse would understand the joke!

I read this and in a way I can relate to both sides. I'm 20, and sure I didn't have it as hard as some people, but its not exactly like the young kids of today. I feel like I am a cross breed.

Growing up we didn't have a tv with a remote, we didn't have ones with buttons either! We had this huge thing that had that plastic fake wood look and this knob you'd twist to flick channels, and another knob to tune the channels in. We didn't get this tv until I was about 10 anyway, if we wanted to watch a movie we had to go round and "borrow" my dads tv when he was away.

We had video players, floppy discs, cassettes. I got my first phone because I used to ride alone, I didn't even use it at school, why would I call anyone? We had home phones for that. Libraries had cards at the end of aisles with the topics (636 was horses). Internet and computers were becoming much more widely spread. I used to read a chapter of a book while I waited for a page to load (dial up)!

I look at kids now and everything they seem to do is sexual or violent. I don't like that.

EVERYONE of us was labeled at one time. Oh that generation... it hasn't changed so to the posters who are taking offense, we have all been there. With my generation they thought the Beetles were the cause of all our problems. Those hippies... all they want to do is smoke pot and look at the posters hanging on the wall with the black light shining on them.

It is sad that with the world of technology came the fact that we now live in such a fast paced world that no one has time to enjoy it.

Personally, I think we need to go back to the days of spanking as punishment (I didn't say beat) consequences for your actions so to speak. We live in such a me society anymore that no one holds themselves responsible for their actions. It is my parents fault, they divorced, they spanked, I didn't do well in school because of my teacher.... the list goes on and on. And just an fyi for the teens here reading this.. not directed just at you. That whole not being held responsible for your actions happened a long time before you were born...

Time to get off my soap box...

Being a teen myself, I try not to let all the technology take over me. So many people have let the apple industry brainwash them into thinking the iPhone is the best phone ever. I'm perfectly fine with this itouch I'm on. I like to listen to music and just getting on the web by wifi without paying a bazillion dollars. But the world is going all technology pretty much and there's not much anyone can do about it. I understand that teens are always labeled and ALWAYS will be, so that's all the more reason if you're a teen to step up and not be like the typical spoiled teen. I admit I love texting though, but does it make me lazy? No.

My sister is a 5th grade teacher and she told her students if they showed their underwear one more time she'd show hers. They started wearing belts.

Saskia, I totally agree with you. Being that we're about the same age, that makes sense though.

Okay, so im only 25 but I can relate a lot ot all of this. I played on an atari 2600, we had like a billion games, and we had to switch out the cartridges. I didnt have a cd until I was in middle school, and I was 20 when I actually had a car with a cd player. My dad still played old vinyl records until I was 10. I remember back when video cameras had the 8mm tapes, and we had to get a special VCR to play them.

I also remember when the TV's didnt even have a remote. We had two tvs in my house when I was little, and they each had the pull knobs that you had to pull in order to turn the tv on. Then you only had about 10 channels and each of them had their own button.

Cell phones, what cell phones? I got my first cell phone that I was only able to use when I went a few hours away for track meets my sophomore year in high school. And we got our first cell phones when AT&T was Cellular One, talk about bad service. And there was no such thing as a color screen, you had tow colors on the screen, gray and darker gray, hell, I didnt evenhave a flip phone nevermind the full keyboard!

I also think about computers and I had to print things on a printer that was bigger then most computers these days with the perforated pages, and the sides that you had to rip off, cmon I Know that some of you out there know what I am talking about. I didnt even have internet until I was about 10 and even then it was dial up when it took 15 min just to download a web page.

My fiancee has two kids 10 and 11, and they are wanting cell phones, I pods, and digital cameras for xmas, I still sit there and scratch my head and was like HUH?

LMAO! I hope all the teenagers whining about how insulted they are, are only serving to drive the entire point of this post home? Welcome to the generation where you just whine about every little thing you don't like because we've decided we have to make the whole world happy!

What's funnier, is typically the past generations learn from the new generations anyway. I will have no end of older women at work telling me how easy I have it, and yet they join RIGHT in with the chorus of whining every time they dislike something which was NOT allowed in their generation.

I'm only 25 and already the changes are staggering. I didn't get a cell phone until I graduated high school, and only because I'd been in a car accident and my parents wanted me to have one!

We never had video game consoles, although they did exist. My sister finally got an N64 as a teenager but it had STRICT rules.

Our first computer was an absolute wonder when we were kids, and finally as teenagers we got dial up internet with only 100 hours a month! We were VERY restricted! My mom would sit behind me until I was 16!

I had a discman, not an mp3 player. I played music in my truck by inserting a cassette attached to a long cord attached to my discman!

I am not ashamed to admit I have embraced technology whole heartedly - I can text faster then most teenagers these days, and I typically refuse to talk on my phone, I'm a texter by heart. I know I'm spoiled rotten, and proud of it! I worked for what I have, and I am allowed to enjoy it! HERE HERE!
