I guess this thread is for me, since I'm a certified "non-horseperson". So one of my many peeves, I guess, is horse people who think they have us all pegged.
Like, we are all totally stupid around horses.
We will skip our way merrily into a barn, wearing flip-flops. We think nothing of walking directly behind a horse, well within kicking range. None of know enough to move slowly and/or talk softly around a strange horse so as not to spook it. Heck, we didn't even know that horses spook! Or if we did know, we think that all of them spook, all the time and are just crazy.
We think that horses whinny and rear up all the time, because that's what they do on TV and in the movies.
And one of our favorite things to do is to offer your horses our fingers, and then whine because "Hey, he bit me!" It's what keeps our- and your- lives interesting!
And if we can somehow manage to wheedle a ride or two, we all act like we're going to be the next Lone Ranger, and constantly kick the horse's sides and tug on the reins, whooping and hollering like the idiots we are.
But worst of all are those of us non-horsepeople who dare to think that we know anything at all about horses. How presumptuous of us!
