I feel your pain about the mule, I used to own a sweet little gaited mule, and when I'd show up to a roping or trail ride people would think it was open season , til she oputworked everyone of their durned horses.
My biggest pet peeve, is one we are living thru right now. Some do-gooder tree hugger decided to call animal control because our horses didn't have hay in the pasture. Our horse are all fed in their run in, and that's where the hay is. Now mind your own danged bidness.

God, I could go on for hours! I used to own miniature horses and I had SO many people (horsey and non horsey) ask me: "so, you can't ride it... what do you DO with it?" Ummm what do you do with your dog or cat?? Just because you don't ride it doesn't make it useless!
My second peeve: this one has already been said but its just so frustrating: non-horsey people meeting my horse and ignoring whatever I say, e.g. Don't walk behind him, don't pat him there, etc. My gelding is as quiet as they come but he is still a horse!

Just because my horse can't neck-rein well yet, my 3 non-horsey cousins say he's useless.

Why don't you go hop on those 2 unbroke horses?

I'm a new rider and even this peeves me...
"You just sit there. Riding a horse isn't even a sport...anyone could do it!" Yes, anyone CAN do it, but riding correctly is a totally different story. I've had people who have never even been on a horse tell me that riding is easy. -.-

And the second thing is...when I tell people I'm getting Hunter/Jumper lessons they say, "You know that's what got Superman, right?" Yes. Okay. We've all heard about what happened to Superman, but can we take a minute to look at all the other Hunter/Jumpers that are still riding and are just fine. Smh. >.>

That is all.

Actually, Christopher Reeve was an eventer and his accident happened during the cross country portion. Which in my opinion is FAR more dangerous than standard Hunter/Jumpers

I found out when her owner came out shocked that she let me near her.(She was begin held by a female barn helper.) She stated she Hated men even more so with hats on. Apparently she was abused by several men in her past and rough handled. She even called her husband over to see and she didn't care for him swished her tail, etc. Yet with me calm as can be. This was one of just several occasions were mares didn't like guys, yet I got along with them just fine. IDK why, maybe I'm just calm soft handed and soft spoken, an maybe they can sense than an the fact that I'm a mare lover would be my best guess. I always seen to get along really well and have really, really strong bonds with mares all my equine affiliated life.
I had a mare like that who only tolerated gay men. She was never wrong.
I can't say why this mare liked you but if I were you I would be pretty pleased.

I had an accident on a horse last fall, and the first words out of my mom's mouth were: "You know, a horse killed Superman."

Seesh.
