So - hungary joined the EU and as part of doing so has to obey certain rules, one of which is animal slaughter. The old method of slaughtering a pig was deemed to be un-acceptable so the locals had to find a new method.
One of my local farmers decided to try out a couple, this is absolutly true
1. Electrocution , He connected his pig to the mains and turned it on - only for his pig to squeal and runoff , they then spent an hour chasing it round the local town trying to catch it.
2. Gas, they burn off the pig hair with a propane torch.
My farmer shoved the unlit gas nozzell into the pigs mouth to gas the pig to death , after the poor pig had died they then proceeded to burn off the hair as normal - one thing they forgot was that the pigs lungs were full of propane , so when the flame got near the pigs nose it ignited the gas in its lungs and the pig exploded . Can you imaging the mess that a 400kg pig makes when it explodes - yuck -
