I actually find this topic very interesting. It was founded on nonsense, and I know a lot of chiropractors employ pseudo-scientific ideas/dangerous practises, but I know people have benefited from some visits to a chiropractor. Is this placebo effect, or that some of them simply use physical therapy-type techniques that actually end up working? I feel like there's not enough information about them out there, I didn't realise it was such a pseudo-scientific practise. Quite scary. :[

My worst fall? Hmmm I think it was when I was about 12 (a while back!) I did my first ever showjump course in a hall full of people. My horse refused a jump then changed his mind and leapt over it. LOL I obviously got caught behind and went flying over him and landed on my face. I wore braces at the time and had HUGE fat lips for a week LOL

OUCHY!! I had a morgan when I was in high school....yeah long time ago too - that I jumped bareback at home all the time. Only around 18 inch jump. I decided to raise it up to 2 feet. We were cantering nicely as we approached the jump. All of a sudden she stopped dead in her tracks but I kept going right over her head and landed on top of my head with my body folding over my head. My dad made me get right back on and jump again. I lowered the jump back to her normal height and we sailed right over.

well hereis a few

These three happened all in one week.

1. Riding a quarter horse mare I had put countless miles on. The end of a long ride we trotted up a ditch to the dirt road. She tripped going up hill, did a summersault, I went flying, landed with my body on top of my head. Hurt my neck and shouldlers, broke a helmet. Got on and rode home.

2. probably 4 days later, riding a spooky arab mare. Other than the spooks she was super controlable, no buck bolt or rear. First, instead of trotting around a hub cap, we cleared it by three feet, which was unexpected, but set the tone for the rest of the ride. Near the end I was in the middle, we were riding at a fast canter down one of our favorite trails. We had never seen anyone else on the trail, but a teenage guy had brought his girl there for an afternoon of "fun" He must have taken a pee break and just as we were headed down the trail. He stopped in the middle of the trail and raised his arms, wearing the most absurd purple sweater(how did he get a girlfriend again? smart and with fashion sense) and all the horses came to spectacular sliding stops, with us doing syncronized unscheduled dismounts over their heads. I sat up just in time to see Mr Fashion Sense and his scantilly clad girlfriend scampering off through the bush.

3. 2 days later. Decided to take a very well broke gelding I was super confident on for a trail ride. Nice flat hay feild, I let him out for a run. Just picked up speed and his cinch broke, he jumped and the saddle slid off his side, I landed in such a way that my tightly laced boot(came up past my ankle) was ripped off, my tail bone was bruised, shoulder re-injured and a second helmet broken. I woke up to the puzzling sight of my laced up boot sitting next to me, still laced up. Only later I found out I had torn a bunch of tendons in my ankle, resulting in wearing a brace for 2.5 years and not being able to ride with stirrups for 6 months.

Mine was head first in to the water jump. Crashed in to the bottom rail and cracked my helmet. It was awesome!

Took a bad fall in the warm-up ring jumping small 18" fences with flowers to start with. First cold snap of the season so all the horses were amped up, and come to find out my horse was afraid of the flowers at that jump, and so jumped it like a 3' oxer sending my unexpecting and unprepared bum to the floor in two-point position landing directly on my tail bone shattering it then grabbing a concussion because of my slamming of my head against the jump I had hoped to clear. Needless to say I didn't participate in that show. Horse was fine and I was screaming various colorful profanities when I woke up. That day 4 other girls from my barn suffered a similar fate and wound up in the dirt. Maybe participating the first chilly day in fall wasn't the smartest thing to do?

I am still under the impression that there is nothing alive quite so beautiful as a thoroughbred horse.

My worst fall was on my horse when he was quite a bit younger. He's naturally a calm dependable horse but we were riding outside and jumping and he was super excited to be jumping that day. Jumped about a 4 footer, he was a little happy and threw some hard bucks after that I wasn't expecting since he almost never bucks, needless to say he bucked me straight off and I hit the ground and broke my collarbone to the point where it almost punctured through the skin. Still love that horse, still ride him and still jump him.

Another funny time which wasn't really a fall but I lost my stirrup off a jump and started leaning but my other foot in my other stirrup was pushed way too far in so I was hanging on by one foot being dragged along by my horse on the ground. He noticed and just started slow walking. He's one of those horses who listens even if he doesn't get why you're doing the crazy stuff you're doing, I was cracking up as he was walking because he kept looking back at me like "why are you riding down there on the ground?" he eventually halted and I had someone help me out. I was just laughing so hard the whole because it was like a cartoon.

It was the second ride on my horse, I just got him off the track and he were just plodding around in a tiny round pen. I went to switch directions with him and let's just say he forgot where his legs were! He tripped and went down, I went flyin over his head when his butt started to push toward. I just remember one second my horse was under me and then he was gOne. Then I remember laying on the ground and him falling towards me and these I blinked and he was up just waiting for me to get up. Aha I should of known then he was a clutz. My most recent fall was so stupid, I haven't fallen off my horse in two years. Recently I was ordered not to ride my horse due to back problems. Well one day I was really stressed and just take a nice walk around his pasture bareback. We got to the top of the hill and it was windy and a very loud car went zooming by the barn and my horse who hardly spooks decided to spook. I can usually sit his little fits but nooo I ended up falling off on my bad back,, Ahhh let's just I was caught lol
