| Oh, I used to HATE dressage. I thought it was worse than watching grass grow or paint dry.. yucky.
But then I got into the cool stuff, like being able to control each step Dancer took, and well - that is just too cool. Being able to do multiple lead changes, canter sidepass... it was all just really really neat.
The beginning will be well.. boring. It's tedious, but keep at it, it gets really really cool after the boring beginning stuff, and it will totally benefit your jumping. I guarantee it.
All the Grand Prix showjumpers are dressage horses first and foremost; they can all do upper level dressage as well as showjumping - just something to think about :) |

| Haha, that's true. :) Well, if anyone wants to check out the video of Rainy jumping before the no-go, then here it is. THIS IS BEFORE I WAS TOLD NOT TO, I AM NOT JUMPING HER ANYMORE. <---Disclaimer. And if you critique, constructive please. (rainy is the bay, with the purple saddle pad. The grey horse is being ridden by my friend, whose just goofing off. Please do not critique her.) |

| Okay, #1) I think you two are SUPER cute together. #2) I see a ton of potential, but there is a lot of room for improvement. I think you two doing dressage and working with this instructor will benefit you so much, and your jumping will be SO much better after a little dressage break hehe :)
Best of luck with everything, I think you will be shocked at the improvement, and look back on this video and realize that. I'd love to see updates! |

| Thanks for all of it! Yes, we love each other SO much! :) Yeah, I know we're not the best...it's been a year since I've started working with her, and before that, she had no training other than perhaps being sent to a trainer for a month or so. Plus add to the fact neither she or I have ever trained in jumping, I'm pretty happy for what we have so far. Hopefully my instructor will give me some jumping lessons once Rainy's older, but for now, (again with the whole no jumping horses thing) I'm done with jumping. :P |

Horses: 0 | LOVE this thread. just wanted to say that - and props to you and your trainer :) it will pay off i promise!
my jumper didn't canter for the first year i had him off the track, and his trot AND canter work now is to die for, and his jump is super powerful as a results. it's worth it! |
