Base of the jumps

What does it mean to bury your horse to the base of a fence? Apparently I do this a lot, though unintentionally. Is it like chipping in when you get your striding wrong? Are there any videos of someone doing this?

And lastly, how do I stop doing it?

Yes, it means getting your horse too close to the base of the fence. It can get dangerous fast as the fences get higher. A ground pole can help, but best to work with an instructor to help develop you eye for the proper distance.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.
