Can a quarter horse jump?

I hav just recently got a new horse called Dakota aka Dickie, he is a quater horse, iv only just started jumping him about 30 cm, and he does the jumps perfecty, he is 5 years old, and was broken in late, erm I was just wondering if the average quater horse has the ability to jump large obsticals because I would like to do jumping on dickie,

There's no "average" for the QH, they can tall, llanky appendix, or short, muscled beyond belief halter horses. If you post pictures it would give us a better idea

But yes, almost any horse can jump. The size of the jump depends on the horses size, confo, willingness, and "spring"

My mare is a quarter horse and she can jump 3'3. Lol. So yes. As said above, almost any horse can jump.

I've a friend that has a 15hh qh that clears fences on a regular bases.

Absolutely! My QH is learning to jump now after doing western for all of his life, and he is doing great!

I think he could jump fine. I see QHs jump on a regular basis around here especially in the Hunters. Eventing might be a bigger challenge...I don't know if he would have the endurance for it as most QHs genetically are only built to go full out for short distances.

He's not going to be an Olympic jumper, but he will be able to jump.
Most horses can jump, just depending on how they're built they may not be able to do it well. My Standardbred is jumping 2'3" but due to being trained as a harness horse he is not built for it, nor is he good at it, but he's willing. If he was trained from young to be a saddle horse, he might be able to jump a bit better.

Point is he will be able to jump, you'll just have to determine how high he is capable and comfortable with.

Some Quarter horses do Grand Prix level jumping...so yes...they can jump...how well they can do it depends on build and ability(natural).
