First jump stories...

My first jump - I fell off. Second jump - she refused. Third jump - I stayed on but landed on her neck. And this was at a riding school! Needless to say I left there a long time ago :S
I asked my friend who learnt to ride there too and she fell off on her first jump on the same pony...
I think this contributed to me being terrified of jumping about 2 years ago, but that was also because of the horse I had (and still have), he knew exactly how to scare me to death. But he definitely doesn't scare me now!

I was on the brattiest most amazing horse in the world! We were jumping a TINY little crossrail.... I don't remember the exact size, but it was tiny! Anyway, we trotted up to it. Sam stopped and about 5 seconds later he hopped the jump like it was 3 ft! :) We looked horrible, I am positive, but I had a blast, and my trainer had so much fun mocking me about for the next 2 years!

Dougal had his first EVER jump at Pony Club in the summer. He ran straight through it! He didn't actually understand he had to go over it, poor sod. He did get over it a couple of times after that though. He's done drops and water jumps on the XC course as well, and even jumped a little log!
Since then he has done some jumping on the lunge but i'm staying away from the jumping until he learns to canter properly and matures a bit.
My own first jump probably wasn't very interesting, haha.

Well, I had my first jumping lesson but, we went down there & warmed up on the flat & it started to rain & got harder & harder.My instrutor let me jump a few times & then we ran up to the barn soaked!It was quite the experience.

Mine was during a lesson. I trotted over a cross rail. It was exhilarating.

Mine was on a half warmblood and Lippizan I think and her name was Della. She was the sweetest nicest horse. We jumped over a tiny hay bale. Sadly she died about 2 or 3 yrs back. Rest in Peace Della!

At my old old riding school I used to ride a little grey mare about 13-14hh? But one day after I had ridden they put me up on a big bay which seemed huge (but was prob abound 15-16hh) to have a jump. There were no stirrups on the saddle and they didnt bother putting them on and my helmet was to big so they lead me over this little jump (40cm?) and I popped over and my helmet fell over my eyes but I managed to stay on haha then we went over again but this time after the jump I rolled off in slow motion hahaha but I was fine =D

Heh, my friend was leading me at a trot on her 25-year-old Arab gelding when we were maybe 10-11 years old. The log was a good 18 inches, I was pretty exhilerated! Heh.
My first "official" jump was at a lesson, just a little baby crossrail. I was left way behind and I didn't like it very much.

My first jump was a true accident. We went out riding in an old pasture one one of the first spring days of the season. Being we were riding old old old lesson horses my instructor knew very well she thought it was fine. The older blind in one eye paint flipped out, causing my little paint to flip out, take off, and take me flying over a pile of 8 or 9 gate style jump standards. This caught my attention and no one has been able to get me off the back of a horse since.
