Gina Miles Jump Round

Did anyone see the olympics? Gina and McKinlaigh did so great- got a silver! Mac looked so handsome. The only thing that confused me was her release over fences. Over the fence, she would open her hands and make a V with her arms. It almost looked like an automatic release, but not. Does anyone have a video to better explain this? I was wondering what kind of release this was...

Her round was amazing! I noticed the release thing too. Her hands were low like an auto, but way out farther from the sides of the horse's neck.

It was an awesome round. But I am not sure about the release either, maybe to let the horse have his head?

That was a great competition, came down to the very end and they all did well. Gina did great.

It looks like she's doing an automatic release (instead of pressing and resting them on her horses crest she follows her horse's mouth). I assume through the triple she needed as much control and balance as she could get and keeping her hands wide like that helps keep him straighter. That's what it looks like to me anyways!

Yeah! Silver for australia in the team eventing.....if only the germans had knocked a few more poles to the ground...their last rider rattled so many!
