When I rode jumpers, unless it was a speed round, I treat it like I'm riding a jumper equitation course. Focus more on putting in a correct ride, and tighten up the turns where you can. Treat the first round of the Mini Prixs (or "Grand Prixs" in this case) like any other jumper course. Just because it's a special class, you don't need to panic in the first round. The jump offs are where you can really shine, if you have a very handy horse.
For me, I felt that if my rides weren't coming together in the jumper ring, I'd go back and play in the hunters for a while. Hunters will keep you honest, if anything, and a change of scenery can be nice.
I don't get nervous at any show really, it's just the world show. I think I get a weird mixture of nervous and excitement and just get a huge adrenaline rush! We go to soo many shows, its insane. And we're really good at the mini grand prixs, versus the AQHA jumpers at the regular shows, because the grand prix's are more straight aways, and spread out. When AQHA jumpers at a regular show is more tight turns. My horse is huge and does some pretty tight turns for his size, but the girl at my barn who I compete with at the regular shows can turn on a dime. But, if it's a straight away course with a turn or two, I beat her almost every time.
It seems like at the World and Congress, they try to make their jumper course like the "grand prix", which it should be. The congress was basically all straight aways, long distances, wider (for aqha) oxers and sweedish oxers, with one "small" turn.
This was my winning goes from the 2010 Congress.
I don't need critique on my horse, or myself. I know what we both did wrong, and what we needed to (and did) improve on.
He was not collected, I was pulling on him, and he looks off, which he wasn't.
Please no rude comments(: I got enough hell on this video on COTH.
