Great Lesson and Too Ahead?
Today I had an amazing lesson. I stopped pumping at the canter, stopped dropping my inside shoulder when turning, and sat the trot a lot better. My trainer also told me that I jumped the best she has ever seen, even though I did cut a few corners and then we ended up jumping early. But as soon as I knew I cut the corner to much I know he is going to take off early and I was ready for most of them. =) I feel really good about them.
I have been reading other posts where people didn't start jumping until they have ridden for about 2 to 6 years of riding. I have been riding for about 5 months now and can already jump 2ft 6. I usually only do 2ft 3 but that was a one day thing to see how high I was ready for, and that's about as high as I could go without having some trouble. I rode when I was about 10 for two years, english style but in a western saddle until about the last four to five months. I then moved and couldn't ride for two years and then I finally started riding again, and I actually jumped on the second lesson over little 6 inch cross rails in August. Am I to ahead or anything? I have been to my first show in October to get the feel of showing for the 2012 show team and got 7th place.
