Havent showed in canada Yet Help!!

Ive had my Tb for 4 years now and I've been wanting to show him ever since I bought him. I could never afford to board him in the winter so when it came to summer time we were never ready.
This coming summer I HAVE to show im getting depressed.
He's been working in a hackamore and is doing great I've been riding him 3 times a week when its nice (winter)

I think im a little scared to show also. I don't know how it works here in canada I showed once in cyprus. I don't know what shows to go to for my first few and what to do when I get there.Also how my horse will act when he's never been to a show

Look for some local schooling shows. They're great for helping you prepare for higher level shows.

Go to schooling shows. They are a great way to "show" without any pressure as there will be lots of horses or riders or horse/rider teams without any experience. Try and find a schooling show catering towards greenies (horse or rider).

I always set a goal for myself at a schooling show. If I make a mistake, I will try and correct it for the next one. It helps with making sure you are focused on what you are doing as well.

Schooling shows are just for that....schooling. Its another lesson. Make mistakes, and then fix it. If you have to circle before a jump then circle. Don't go expecting ribbons and rainbows, especially on green horses.

You should ask the place where you are showing if they'll allow a hackamore. Most schooling shows will, but some won't.
