The jump in the avatar photo was either 5' of 5'3". I am 5'9" so.....That certainly wasn't the highest jump,

The jump in the avatar photo was either 5' of 5'3". I am 5'9" so.....That certainly wasn't the highest jump, and we did it on a fairly regular basis.

I did 3'9" once on the hunting field and have shown in jumpers up to 3'. That was back in the days of my youth.

I just started my mare over ground poles and she jumped them as if they were about 2' until she realized that much effort was not needed and could just trot over them. I think she is going to end up to be a great little jumper, she certainly has the enthusiasm anyway.

About 3ft 6 in the school with conventional poles and wings. Done a fair bit bigger cross country but never measured them. Murphy (the only one of my two who jumps) is 18h anyway so he hardly bothers to try for anything under 3ft. Not sure how tall the average five bar gate is but I've cleared a few of them in my time....plus once, by accident a large log in the forest that (unknown to me) had a couple doing the horizontal mambo behind! Having one's lovin disturbed by three quarters of a ton of low flying horse is not guaranteed to brighten your day.
