I think it depends on the horse. If you've got a horse that needs the extra work, 4 times a week might be good for him. I would never do more than 4 days of jumping though. 7 days of riding, sure, but flat.
But Cowboy, and horses like him, that are cool, calm, collected, and are just fine with jumping, I would only work at most 3 times a week, if aproaching a show. If the horse is at least 6. Now Cowboy is 4, and we only jump once a week. Period. IMO, he's too young for too much.
