Height does have SOME to do with a horse's jumping ability. But I think it has more to do about natural talent and all that jazz.
I can definitely feel a difference in the jumping styles of my 17hh mare and my 14.3 hh mare. The 17hh mare gives you the feeling of a slower ride because of her huge strides and the effort to get over the jumps is less usually. I find her more comfortable to ride over jumps because I am somewhat of a timid jumper and I like the slower, steady feeling.
My 14.3hh horse is speedy. She has to be to get around in the same time as the other horses! She cracks her back on lower jumps than the bigger horses naturally but she is also more catty than the 17hh horse.
It all depends on what you like as a rider.
