Jumping Anxiety

I have diagnosed anxiety and it seems to hit me really bad before jumping lessons. It's not even the jumping part that bothers me I don't think. I think it has to do with the fact that the horse I jump is really fresh almost all the time.
It's not that I can't handle him, because my instructor says we work really well together, it's just that I get so nervous before lessons that I feel really panicked.
Once I get on it's usually perfectly fine. I'm just wondering if anyone else gets anxiety before lessons. Also if anyone knows any tips for calming and correcting a horse that bolts. He does it a lot and I often have to use a pulley-rein to get him back under control, but even then he gets really worked up.
He's a thoroughbred/hanoverian, so it's probably the thorougbred in him that makes him get more and more hyper as the lesson goes on. I just want to feel more in control when riding, therefore maybe I won't get so nervous beforehand.

If anyone can help, I greatly appreciate it. :)

I have anxiety before every ride. And I simply trail ride for pleasure. It hits me the moment I get to the mounting block... ok, foot in stirrup... hesitation... NO THIS IS GOING TO BE A GOOD RIDE... and on. Then i'm good.

I have natural anxiety though, im always thinking the worst. Did I mention I have 2 VERY safe, broke horses? A fresh horse... oh no, not me. But then again, I dont jump. I'm not of much help, but you surely are not alone.

I'm always a bit nervous before my "big" jumping lesson. Saturday we jump full courses, anywhere between 3 ft and 3'9". So i tend to get a little worked up right before i ride on saturday. A few times around the course and i always feel much better.
BUT.... My horse is pretty well behaved. If my horse was taking me for a drag like your lesson horse, i would probably be pretty nervous too! The very first thing i would do is ask to try a different horse! A few confidence building lessons on a willing school master, might make you feel ready for the challenge of the other horse that needs a bit more of a confident rider. It is also your trainers job to keep his/her lesson horses tuned up! Your current horse may need someone to remind him of his job, and how he's expected to behave.

Life seems mighty precious, when there's less of it to waste.

He's actually my lease horse and I'm normally confidant. I've been leasing him since October, and I suppose we're just hitting our 'rough patch' that every rider seems to go through when they get a new horse.
We had a very good lesson yesterday. Small jumps, just focusing on getting him calm and collected. I had him halt every time he got too excited, and it worked after a few times around the course.
We do 3' normally, and like you (above post) I have one big jumping lesson and one excercise/gymnastic jumping lesson a week.
I just get really nervous for the big lessons, but normally once I'm on I'm okay. He's just been really fresh lately and that's making it a bit more difficult, but I think we're on the right path to getting him calmer.
Thanks so much for replying :)

I was diagnosed with anxiety last year - I know how you feel. Maybe a lunge session before getting on and riding? I try to lunge my mare before getting on but I forget a lot! I do know that lunging really can calm a horse down before riding. Try to fit in about 20 - 40 minutes daily if you can. First try mightn't work so well but after a while you should see results.
