My riding school is holding another jumping competition and I originally planned to enter two rounds, somehow my instructor managed to persuade me to do four and it will be my second competition at this yard. Hopefully it won't go as horribly wrong as the last one I did where I came off onto a filler and did a good deal of muscle damage to my leg, luckily I landed on my calf muscle and didn't hit the bone otherwise the hospital reckons it would have been a break.
The horse I was intending to ride in three of the rounds has been sold so I've been offered the ride of the young pony I rode in my lesson this week. He's a cracking little jumper so as long as I guide him right we shouldn't touch the fence. On him I'm entered in the Novice round which is our warm up round so both of us get used to the course and each other then we're entered in the Open small (about 2ft6) class and Open large (about 2ft9-3ft) classes. I also have another entry on another pony in the Chase-Me-Charlie class which is a small course that each time you go round increases in size and is basically last man standing. The pony I've got for this round is an ex show jumping pony who is a very safe and very good jumper.
Hopefully we'll go clear in at least one round and we'll get to a decent height in the Chase-Me-Charlie. In lessons I've gone up to 3ft when jumping, it's just my nerves and I've been having an awful week, managed to concuss myself twice. Once coming off onto my head falling off the pony I'm taking for the first three rounds (bodes well doesn't it) when he spooked and the second was yesterday I fainted and smacked my head on the way down. I also got smacked on the head today at work by the ice machine. It's been a bad week for my head.
