oh! well done, only thing I can say is go with him a bit more and put your stirrups up a bit! I know the jumps are only small but it would be good if you got used to ballancing yourself over them a bit more rather than using your seat as a landing mat! great though, all i can say is carry on and your confidance will build :)

To be secure and balanced you want your lower leg under yourself with your heel directly under your hip. If your stirrup is too long you lose that as it opens your knee angle and often people ride with their leg a little too far in front (which in turn pushes your bottom to the back of the saddle instead of middle). This is what's going on with your leg. If you shorten your stirrups a hole or two you leg will be more secure and it will be easier to get out of the saddle.

It's hard to really critique this video but I love how still you are with your upper body over the fence.

Your horse is cute!! I like him a lot! Shortening your stirrups would help your form like the above said. Back to your question on why to shorten your stirrups though is because it will help you get more balance into your heel. The sooner you get this balance the easier it will be to keep your balance over bigger fences.

When I first started jumping my trainer would have me shorten my stirrups one hole than on the flat because of the above reason. It worked out well. Every once in a while I will forget now that I have to keep my balance jumping bigger and I've flown off quite a few times because of my heels being up instead of down.

Other than that you guys look great for your first gridwork...I really dislike grids they're so much of a challange.

Thank you. :) I dislike grids as well but the majority of the shows this summer have the jumps set up just like that. So now its a routine. I am trying to shorten my stirrups but to shorten them you have to wrap them around. So its not quite working... :) lol

Like everyone else said shortening your stirrups would help. Also, I'd like him to have a better rein contact on the flat. The angle is a little iffy, but it seems like your hands are going out over the jump when they should be on his neck. Make sure to remain loose and supply in your shoulders, wrists, elbows, and knees. I'd also like to see you and him with a little more energy.

Looks good. I would suggest just practicing to the point that it feels natural and comfortable. Set up jumps with patterns for stride (ex. a cross rail, 2 strides, then another jump, 1 stride, then last jump. Count to yourself how many strides that you want. (i.e- (approaching, 1,2, UP, 1,2, UP, 1 UP) Sorry, a little confusing
