jumping and dressage

One of my horses is a very experienced dressage horse ( I really don't like dressage) everyone is telling me that he has potential too reach the top he is scoring 72% week in and out they say if I jump him I will ruin him and his chances of making it?

They are right only if the person jumping him does not understand the way the horse has been trained to this point.

The jumping itself will not ruin a dressage horse nor will dressage ruin a potential jumper.

In the end it boils down to the finesse and understanding the rider has of their horse.
