Jumping in Jeans vs. Jodhpurs?

I only go riding about 2 or 3 times a month - if lucky! I've been jumping for about 3 years, and only in jeans. They don't chaff my legs, but my aunt - who has been riding longer that I've been alive - pointed out that I need to get some jodhpurs.
If I'm comfortable, will it be okay for me to continue riding in jeans? Since I go riding so infrequently, I'm not sure if I want to buy a pair... I mean if it's riding pants or a riding lesson, I'll definitely go for the latter.
Thanks! (:

If you are not showing and aren't required in lessons you take (if any) than jeans are just fine if that is what you prefer. (:

I agree that they aren't required unless you are showing, etc. I will say though that I find jeans a little more "slippery"/less "grip" (at least on my saddle). I used to always wear riding pants, but lately have just been wearing my jeans and putting my tall boots on.

I haven't jumped in jeans though and will wear riding pants again for lessons.

There are some girls in my barn that ride in yogar pants or sweat pants over breeches, because that is just what they prefer to ride in, as well as a few who ride in jeans. Whatever is most functional and works for you!

I ride mainly in breeches, but up until recently I rode often in jeans (and still do wear them on occasion). If I do wear jeans, I wear skinny jeans tucked into my boots to give me a little more traction, especially over fences.

As long as you're not showing, I don't see a problem with wearing whatever you want, as long as it's safe.
