jumping lesson video - 3/17

heres a short couple clips of me and gypsy at our last jumping lesson. We were working on letting gypsy do her thing and me not micromanaging her. This was also our first time jumping outside this year =]

Please feel free to critique ! I know I have a bit of a chair seat =/ im borrowing this saddle while im waiting to get my new one, and it has too forward of a flap for my short legs !

The poles before the oxer are set short, 20ft & 8ft. The other gymnastic is set at 18ft.

your form is lovely and soft. Your pony has a great eye and a fabulous little jump. Great job!

Life seems mighty precious, when there's less of it to waste.

Very quiet approach: no hurry or fuss before or after the jump, and the horse seems to be very relaxed.

I agree, such nice quiet approaches and jumps. I'd say you're doing a good job of not micromanaging.

If your horse says no, you either asked the wrong question or asked the question wrong

And God took a handful of southerly wind, blew His breath over it and created the horse

one thing I noticed was jumping ahead, if you pause at the take off for the second jump in the combo especially you are much too far out of the saddle. You don't want to put your horse off balance or fall if they stop. Looked over all pretty good though.

thanks you for the comments black beauty and mudpaint ! Micromanaging is such a huge issue of mine, im such a perfectionist when it comes to gypsy !

Thanks for the critique jumper12, I do have a jumping ahead problem, its getting better though. Im hoping to get video of myself jumping more often to see if im improving at all =]

I do have a jumping ahead problem,
If you can, find an old schoolmaster who knows how to jump well. Most of the time, if you even think about jumping ahead, they'll stop . I know this first hand from a few of my recent jumping lessons . Just something to get you out of the habit fairly quickly :).

Otherwise, I liked what I saw. You two seem to work well together. Good job!
