    Green Broke

Barra Lad was a famous Canadian show jumper, and actually holds the unofficial world record at 8 feet 1 and 1/2 inches (Huaso's official record is under by 1/4 of an inch).

Anyway, upon landing, he slammed to his knees and went skidding across the ring. Within hours, he was stone cold dead. The final report was internal hemorrhage from "shock".

Either way, this video doesn't even come CLOSE to breaking the record, I'm unsure why they're touting it as such unless they mean French record or something.

I agree that the horse is amazing. I cannot even imagine the power and sheer will it would take for a horse to jump that high.

I think if the horse wants to free jump that high, then that's great. But to make a horse do that with at least an extra 200lbs on its back is taking it too far.

All it would take is for the rider to land a little forward and throw the horse off balance... I can bet it would not be a very happy ending.

Puissance walls are very light. I can't find the video now, but I've seen a horse completely take one out before and it barely slowed him down. It is certainly safer than cross-country. Also, it's my understanding that riders jump that high very rarely. Otherwise you're right the horse would probably go lame (and it would take a toll on the rider's knees too!)

That is indeed an awesome horse with amazing abilitiy. But I do agree, that is not a new world record. Huaso still remains in that standing for the official one at least.

It may not be a record, but its incredible! My horse would be like "isn't that the wall of the arena mom?" And the rider's position is so much better than in the black and white video where it looks like the rider is going to come off.
