I started with low x's. What's a pole pile? When I think of a literal pile of poles that sounds like a bad trip waiting to happen.

a pole pile is two poles next to each other so they are touching with and another on top of them in the middle so I makes a pile for them to jump

Tiny verticals and low x's

Thank you for feeding us years of lies. Thank you for the wars you left us to fight. Thank you for the world you ruined overnight. But we'll be fine, yeah we'll be fine.

Ground poles and small X's. Ground poles until you can hold your 2-point at all gaits over them and get striding fairly well, and then X's because it teaches you to aim for the middle of the jump.

Caveletti poles (with correctly set distances) to an x (both for riders and young horses).
