Le Jeune 3 day jumper clinic (PICS!)

Belgium's Philippe Le Jeune came to our barn this weekend for a 3 day (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) jumper clinic. He worked everyone both on the flat and over fences. It was interesting to see how much people struggled with the flat work. So much more so than the over fences stuff. Although, you can see the weakness in a person's riding the moment the fences start to get really big. There was no more room to simply ride your horse up to the fence and HOPE they go over it. It separates the riders from the people simply sitting atop their horses. Hahaha! My trainer rode in this clinic as well... and she did quite amazingly. I suppose that's why I pay her, eh?!
It was pretty cold and gloomy... but anyway, I hope ya'll enjoy the pics!

Green Broke
Embarrassing confession of the day - I read the post title and clicked it all excited (and very confused) expecting to read about an event at CAMP Lejeune, lol.

Glad ya'll like them! They started the fences around 3'9" and ended around 4'6". I myself, tend to stay around 3'3" and under... so I don't much have the heart for this big stuff. But boy, is it fun to watch!

Awesome. I love instructors who focus on both jumping and flat. Is he a "yeller"? I find I get the most out of a lesson when the instructor yells at me.

He was most definitely a yeller! He was much more tough on everyone with the flat work. Which I can totally understand. These are some of the top riders in our area, on horses that cost nearly a quarter of a million (maybe more). So for the riders and the horses to struggle with simple downward transitions or trot poles, is a bit astonishing. However, he was much more forgiving over fences. Especially when they started to get really big. Most normal folks don't jump that big, that often... so it's understandable when they lose their nerve a bit!
