My trainer made a simple cavaletti look like some crazy insane wall! He measured it afterwards and it was 2'6"!! That's the highest (and longest) we've ever jumped before (either of us!) (so please excuse my poor form over the jump!) ;-)
Thanks everyone!! It's amazing what this mare has learned in the past few months - 2 months ago she had never jumped before (and I hadn't jumped in over 2 yrs!) ;-) I never thought I would pick up jumping again- I quit 2 years ago when I was just learning how because the horse I rode then, my trainer's OTTB, was over 17 hh and liked to take off WAAAY in front of the jump and FLY over them, so it just scared me away from it all.
With little 14.1 hh Sandie, I'm not so intimidated ;-)
you look great! and your form is NOT poor, heck, i think you look better than me, and i've been jumping for a year! god job, you're one of my new Horse forum role models =]
THANK YOU!! I really appreciate that! The only thing I know I did wrong in this case was that I tend to hunch my shoulders instead of keeping my shoulders back, so then I don't end up being as forward as I need to be for as long as I need to, and I come down on her back too early (which causes me to pull on her mouth as well, which I definitely don't want to do!)
But, that's why I'm working with my trainer, and I think Im actually starting to figure it out, I'll have to have him video me again this week and maybe my form will be a little better then too!
