I saw it many years ago and don't remember much about it. I do remember thinking "Wow, I wish I could do that." Typical western girl, I know nothing about jumping. LOL.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE National Velvet

Was it the black and white original with Elizabeth Taylor? I think there has been a remake of it. Such a great horsey film, even thought the steeple chases are scary :)

There is also a follow up called International Velvet about Velvets niece who goes to the Olympics. I love that movie too! That one was released 1978, so kinda old too :) but in colour! Hehe

Wow, I bet that's worth some serious money! Mine didn't have elizabeth taylor in it, I don't remember the name of the actress...and it was in color. I was watching it with a friend and every time she jumped I would cringe and look away. She had to ask why so I explained that you are not supposed to lean BACK when going over a jump and bounce on the horses back when you land!

I do enjoy National Velvet, it was a great movie and proved to me when I was young, that I can do anything I want.

International Velvet is one of my upmost favorite movies of all time! I watched that film over and over and over - cept the part where one of her teammates horses has to be euthanized on the flight to the U.S.A for the Olympics. That part devistates me........

But I loved it because it showed me that if I worked hard enough, I could make it to levels in the Eventing world.

I also love "The Little Horse That Could" It is about a Conemara Stallion who proved himself in the Combined Training World.

And SYLVESTER - another fabulous Eventing Movie!
