The almost rape scene was wierd for a disney channel movie at my age tho

I rem that movie- I didn't watch it when it first came out (since I was born in 1983) I saw the original too :)

I liked it. But I liked International Velvet a lot better. Great movie.

It was actually a male riding in the jumping shots. Liz Taylor was riding a mechanical horse for any of the closeups as she's not really an accomplished equestrian. Mickey Rooney however is, and did his own riding for the movie.

The mechanical horse they used for Liz to ride is the same horse (reflocked and redone externally) that Christopher Walken "rode" for the close ups in The Headless Horseman. The stunt rider is the same guy that played Darth Maul in the Star Wars series, and he actually did the fight sequences as well.
