our first away show

This was our first show away from the barn. A little background info I got gabe about a year ago straight off the track. I've been training him myself since then and I think I've done a pretty good job for my first experience of training a horse. I know I've got some stuff to work on, like keeping my back straight and shortening my reins, but im giong to start taking lessons again. But anyway this was a hunter/jumper show. I really don't even like these shows, I event but it was a good experience for him. Unfortunately they didn't have anything under 2'3 in jumpers so we had to do hunters. It just reminded me of why I don't like it. No offense. Lol. I didn't have the right colored saddle pad, I had a flash noseband, his mane was done wrong, his feet werent clean enough(ahem it was muddy. Impossible to keep clean.) but overall for our first show it was really good. We got 8th and 6th in crossrails, 5th and 3rd in verticals, and 4th on the flat. Here's the pics/vids.

Sounds like you had a good show! & I like the purple saddlepad, might be wrong for the show but hey, it's cuteee!! :P We all make mistakes! Nice ribbons!

Thank you! I was worried that he was going to completely freak out. I didn't even really expect to place. It just shows how far we've come.

But while this is up here what do you think about his eventing potential? I know you can't really see his dressage potential because we're jumping but im just curious because I see a ton of potential in him but everyone at my barn doesn't think so. Actually I doubt any of them thought we would come this far so fast. Everyone looks at him as a small pony who won't really be able to do anything. (people at my barn think that bigger is better which isn't always the case. He's 15.3 by the way which really isn't that small.) but anyway, what do you think?
