our first jumping lesson!

Just a brag on my awesome boy today. I started riding in october when I got my first horse and started lessons in january (after a few false starts with other "coaches/trainers") Anyway we had our first jumping lesson today and it was fantastic. He is the most wonderful guy and really takes care of his rider. We had to go up to 1 foot though to get him to jump and not just trot over the jump (stupid long TB legs!) Wish I had gotten pics but the arena is too dusty and messes with my camera. Hopefully next week we'll jump outside and get some pics to post in the critique section. I am all about learning and have vacuumed up every book and post on jumping I can find!! Whoo! I think that was the most fun I have ever had on a horse!

Sounds like you had a great first experience. TB's are funny with those long legs. Sounds like he's a good horse. I like the ones that don't do anymore than they have to. I'd rather that than a lunatic that charges everything.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

Thanks ladies, we had a great time- it was not by accident. I picked my horse very very carefully and same with my coach. We're all a great match up and it is making for great riding- we are really moving forward. Can never underestimate the importance of having the right horse and coach!!

Totally right there!

And well done on your jumping lesson. Jumping was the best thing I could have ever started in my life and I will never regret making that choice! Welcome to the jumping world!
