For those of you who already know me and know my story, you can skip the paragraphs below and go straight to the video ;-)
For those who don't, here's a quick overview of my story...When I got Sandie 7 months ago, she was described to me as being "green broke" -- she didn't know the cue to canter, and when she did canter, it was more like an unbalanced hand gallop! We had a lot of work ahead of us, but this little mare just stole everyone's hearts and I knew she would learn very quickly!
One thing that Sandie had NEVER done is jump, and I was new to jumping myself...a challenging combination indeed. But with the help of my trainer, after 5 months of doing nothing but basic groundwork/dressage, we decided to go on an adventure and learn to "fly" together! So about 2 months ago, along with the continued groundwork/dressage of course, we started learning to jump together.
This is a video montage of our 7-month journey to date with jumping. It starts with a video I took with my camera phone while my trainer was lunging Sandie...it was the very first time she'd ever seen a jump before! Then it moves through the timeline of me starting to jump with her (my trainer jumped with her for about a month before I tried it myself since I'm new to it and didn't want to mess up her initial days of learning). The last clip was from this morning...and looking at them all back to back, it just amazes me how fast she has learned, and how much she has helped me learn as well.
We'll be attending our very first show ever in June, an Eventing "mini trial" and we're both very excited (neither of us has ever been in a show before!)
Enjoy the video!!
Disclaimer: Sandie and I are both new to jumping, so we are very aware that we have tons to improve/work on, and we do have a trainer we work with each week, so please no critiques. I've already asked for and received some great advice in other threads - this one is just to share a video I had so much fun making...Thank you! Hope you enjoy!!
