    Regaining Confidence

So about five years ago I had a horse come down with me after jumping a 2'9" jump. The fall broke my right hip and completely shattered my confidence over fences. Since then I was only jumping things 2' and under....until recently. Within the last two months something inside me has changed (I have no clue what has motivated me to go higher) and now we are jumping 2'9" easily. I was so terrified to jump any higher than 2' but I suddenly got my motivation to be a better rider back and so I started working my way up. We of course didn't go from 2' to 2'9". I totally regret not jumping higher for FIVE YEARS! I can only think of how high I would be jumping now if I didn't quit so long ago. But everything happens for a reason and I am SO HAPPY that I have gotten over this fear of mine. My goal is 3'6". I have jumped as high as 4'6" but I no longer desire to jump that high so I set my new goal to 3'6". I'm sure that one day I will get there.

    Below are some pictures.

    Jumping our first 2'3 jump

    Jumping a "scary" 2'3 Oxer

    Jumping 2'6

(we jumped a 2'6 oxer as well but I don't have a picture)

Jumping 2'9. This was a big milestone for me.

And yesterday we jumped a 2'9 oxer but I don't have pictures of that either. I am very very happy with not only my progress but also Rusty's progress.

    Just thought I'd share.

That's wonderful and congratulations! I can't wait to be consistently jumping 2'6"...right now I'm still on crossrails. Way to go!

That's amazing! I used to go to a bad barn where I'd fall off every lesson while jumping the green school horses. Five years later and I can barely do 2'3. Reason I tell you this, is that I'm slightly jealous that you have the guts to get back on! Good job!
