Show jumping clothing?

What is required in the show jumping arena? And what is not allowed? Both for me and my horse. This is our first year showing, and i dont want to get disqualified for something im wearing.

For without a horse, i could not fly.

Mostly small jumping shows, but by the end of the summer i want to be doing more high end shows. I would be doing hunter over fences, show jumping, and equitation over fences.

Serten martingales are not alow in the hunter classes that are alowed in the jumping classes. Breeches, tall boots, hard hat, jacket, stock shirt, for you.
Most hunters ride in fitted pads for horse. Make sure at the opien shows you ask whos rules they are folowing if they are. Some will say USFA or HJSA. Then you can get the rule book frome that ass. Bits can be tricky. The have serten sizes that are not alowed. So ask someone about that. Oh most hunter classes do not let you have boots or rapes on your horse.

read the USEF rule book. there are different rules for Hunter, Jumper, and Eq for both horse AND rider, as well as differences based on rating of show (and not just schooling or non).

I would find the rule book for your country, like how the US has the USEF and USHJA rule book. However, for lower lever jumper classes breeches and tall boots with a nice fitted polo are usually acceptable. For hunter and eq, breeches (tan), tall boots, a show shirt (usually white for the eq) and show jacket. If you are just getting into showing you can usually get some cheap stuff from consignment then invest as you get more serious about showing. As for your horse, I used to use a sheepskin backpad without a saddlepad for the hunters, a fitted pad with a backpad for the eq, and currently use a baby pad with whatever padding my horse needs for the jumpers. Hope this helps. Oh and look up pictures of people in the hunters and eq and see what they are wearing, that will help as well

Then you would need to look up rules under Equine Canada, and then under whatever province you are in.

All classes will require a helmet and proper riding boots. Tall boots would be your best bet.

For HUS and EQ classes, add a jacket and a show shirt.

Jumpers, you can wear the jacket and show shirt, but depending on where and what the show is, you can also wear a NICE polo (plain-but coloured if you wish) that is tucked in.

Obviously, at some shows, you will want to be more formal then casual, so finding a jacket and show shirt that can apply to all three divisions would be the most cost efficient. Changing the show shirt could be an easy way to go from subtle hunter to flashy jumper as well.

As for tack, martingales are usually not allowed in flat classes for hunters, and no boots. Jumpers have more freedom in that regard, but for both divisions, there are still bits that are not allowed depending. Are you doing hunter eq, or jumper eq? Whichever it is...most likely the rules are going to be similar.
