Stirrup length

Okay, so the biggest question I have while tacking up is what length should my stirrups be for jumping? I know they should be a tad bit longer for flat work, and that the stirrups should hit your ankle, but is that for flat work or jumping? I at least need to know the standard for one so I can approximately find the length of the other.

I moved this to jumping, since it seems more a question on jumping technique than tack. I don't jump, so I won't comment.

For a fence at or below three-six, the stirrup should hit the bottom of the ankle bone; over higher fences, the middle of the ankle bone. As according to George Morris.

With you legs hanging completely relaxed, the stirrup tread should touch just above your ankle bone.

My instructor said approx. Two holes higher than you would for flatwork. The height of the fences and what sort of course you're doing comes into consideration as well. Cross country and steeplechase require even shorter stirrups than what you'd need for arena show jumping.

But this is just what I've heard and I may be wrong.

This is what the Pony Club recommends for different stirrup lengths:
