    An Admirer of Horses

    Greetings all!

My name's Karen, and I have always admired the beauty of horses. I've never had one, and always had more than a healthy respect for their size and teeth! It didn't help that I was bitten by one when I was ten. About three years ago, I sold most of my things, bought an RV, and have been traveling the USA with my dogs. I have a retired greyhound and four Italian greyhounds (three of whom are rescues). I was visiting a friend when I fell madly in love with her horse. He's a beautiful bay gelding, and he followed me around, nudging me, and trying to snuggle up to me with his face. Finally, a gentle, funny horse, that didn't frighten me!

I'm an artist, and most of my work has to do with dogs. Very abstract and colorful. Lately, I find myself thinking of horses, and my friend's horse really got to me. In addition, I'm going to be living on a mountain in Washington state next year, and there are at least four horses up there! Two mustangs, a quarterhorse, and my absolute favorite, a Tennesse Walker. That Tennessee Walker is much like the bay ... friendly and quite the gentleman!

I'm hoping to help them care for their horses, and do some paintings and such with their inspiration. I'm hoping to learn a lot more about these beautiful creatures here in the forums, too, whether or not I ever decide to have one of my own.

Since I don't have a horse of my own, here is a photo I took of one of my friend's mustangs, up on the mountain ...

Hi! Welcome! I'd like to see some of your art if you want to post it. I too am an artist, but most of my art revolves around horses.

Thanks! I posted one of my recent pieces in the art section, and my avatar is my work (unless I change it to one of my friend's horses by the time you see this ).

Is any of your work posted in the art forum? I'll go take a look ...
