All I ever wanted was a real life Barbie horse!!
Hi, my name is Stef!! All my life I wanted a horse. My parents would only let me have a Barbie horse. It was a Palomino. Well, now Im a parent, and guess what??? I GOT MY REAL LIFE BARBIE HORSE!!! :) Actually, I have had two Palominos now. My first horse, Sisco, sadly and unexpectedly passed away last year. I had him for 3 years. We can only guess that it was HYPP, even though his parents were both said to be N/N. He lived to be 7 years old. He went from a life of being starved and passed around from home to home, to knowing complete and utter love. He was the most amazing horse. I couldn't have asked for a better horse!! He taught me so much about life. I knew my life couldn't be without a horse. My husbands horse, Mac, was mourning Siscos death, just as I was. Mac was the same age as Sisco. He is a solid black Paint. He also had a rough start in life. He was passed around and abused. Mac and Sisco were very close and took care of one another. I knew I needed another horse, to help mend my broken heart, and to give Mac back the companionship he had lost. Weeks went by and I was having no luck finding that second perfect Palomino. One day, he appeared. It was seriously out of nowhere. I called my husband and told him this was the one, we have to go see him!! My husband actually left work right then and we went to see this horse. This horse and several others had just been rescued from a lady who had 13 of them, and was running out of food for them and they were getting underweight. The rescuers got her down to a manageable number of horses and were going to find homes for the ones they took. All the horses were around the same age, 2006 foals, and had never had anything done with them. Well, when we got to the barn, there was another horse in the barn. It was like he was waiting on us. He was so big!! I thought he was a Haflinger!! Lol Turns out he was the brother of the horse we were going to see. We pat him and then walked out to the pasture to see the horse we came to see. He ignored me and wanted nothing to do with me!! The whole time we were in the pasture, the big horse was right on my tail, nose on my shoulder. He picked me!!! I am so glad he did!! Trader is simply AWESOME!! He is a typical little brother to Mac and is a really fast learner!! He has the same sweet and gentle personality that Sisco had. I call them my big yellow dogs!! :)
My husband had horses before Mac. So he knew how to do "horse things". I was new to it and researched online, watched lots of Craig Cameron, and self taught myself. We broke Sisco, and Mac, and now Trader. It has been an amazing process and learning experience and I seriously want to kick my parents in the butt for not letting me have a horse my whole life!! :)
I am so excited to have a place to talk about horses nonstop and not get that look by people who just don't get it!! Lmao
I look forward to meeting everyone!! :)
