Aussie Newbie

Hey, I'm from Brisbane. I ride and work at a local stables - be my dream job if the pay was better!!

I don't own my own horse - unfortunately i'm too broke for that!

Up until recently I was leasing a 15hh 18yo bay stockhorse gelding, but he now has to be sold due to his owner not having enough room. (if you're interested, let me know!)

At work, there's a couple of horses that are pretty special to me - Calypso, who's been through a lot with me and we've taught each other a lot. She's a fairly old 14.3hh palomino with a very big heart. I don't ride her very much anymore due to her not being able to do the work, but we do go for the odd swim or a quiet bareback hack once in a while, and i make sure she gets a decent grooming whenever I can!!

There's also Trigger. She's been abused in the past, but we're slowly working past her fear of, well, EVERYTHING!! She's also a palomino (no idea what it is about this colour, i just seem to fall in love with them!) but a lot younger than calypso. I've posted a question about her already - i'm having trouble getting her working well in a bridle, so any help is very much wanted! She's a fast learner, and i've had a lot of fun with this girl already =]

I don't have much of a life other than the horses - well, nothing that COUNTS anyway! Last year of school (finally!). My horses are my life. I can't imagine not having them there.

Welcome to the Forum Helen! I am drawn to greys like a moth to a flame...lol... I understand the palomino thing!

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.

Hello Helen,
i am new also, old gal to young gal-having not much of a life except horses can be a very good thing! I applaud you for helping with an abused animal. Its hard work but worth it all when you finally get the forward momentum going and make a breakthrough. Hopefully you will have many. Best of luck to you.
