    Greetings from KY!

    Hello everyone!

I am somewhat new to horses - I used to ride when I was a teen but have never owned any until the last year.

    I have:

Bobby - paint gelding I adopted from the KY Equine Humane Center in Lexington, KY. He's 7 years old, sweet, gentle, and blind. In his former life he was a teaser stallion on a nurse mare farm. In his new life he's a pampered and adored member of the family. One of those horses that gets into the heart of everyone he meets.

Trigger - gelding pony that lives for mischief (what pony doesn't?) - based on some of his past exploits, I'm pretty sure he was a cat burglar in a former life. He's a beautiful dark gray dapple with a "Tina Turner style" flaxen mane and tail. He's my sons pony, and is hopelessly in love with my thoroughbred mare, Gitana.

Gitana - 16 year old Thoroughbred mare that joined our family last week. She's been retired from playing polo and will enjoy life henceforward puttering about our farm with me as a pleasure horse.

Sarge - mid 20's quarter horse gelding that will be joining our family next week. He's a retired Cincinatti Mounted Police Horse and will be living out his golden years with us immersed in comfort and showered with affection. I think he'll be a grand companion to Bobby and a nice, slow, dependable horse for my son to climb on from time to time.

I hadn't heard of that rescue - I'll have to look them up. I love it here - I grew up in Michigan, and have also lived in Illinois, Indiana, and Georgia - and Kentucky is definitely my favorite.

I've been thinking I'd like to offer a foster home to horses up for adoption. I'd like another year of experience under my belt first, but I plan to discuss it with KYEHC soon.

Raquel is the founder of MVR and she rocks! She rehabs and homes about 9 or so horses at a time. This is the link to MVR's site: Welcome to Mountain View Rescue

Hugo was a nurse mare foal, bottle raised and spoiled rotten. He was pretty much a pet (i.e., 1000 lbs. Lap dog) for the first four years of his life. Boy, are things about to change for him!

Welcome! I'm from Louisville originally but moved to Indiana last June. I LOVE it up here! Never thought I'd be a Hoosier.

I'm actually going to be in KY tomorrow picking up a foal for another HF member (Indy).
