Hello everyone :)
Been lurking a while and thought I'd finally join-especially since I recognize some of you fellow Canadians! :P
I just graduated university with an english degree but am now going back to college to pursue paralegal (and then maybe into law. We'll see!) I used to do hunter jumpers several years ago but have now switched to dressage, although I'm hoping to start jumping a little bit again.
I currently own 4 horses, although 2 are fully retired.
Stormy is a 12 year old Trakehner gelding who was my first horse. He stands 17hh, and is still my favorite. He was retired at age 8 because we found that he had neurological issues that made him a bit unaware of where his hind end was.
Next is River. River is a 19 year old Thoroughbred gelding that appears to have had quite a rough life-he's very battle scarred with lumps and bumps all over his body. We adopted him as a companion horse to Storm, and while he's still a bit timid, he's an absolute doll and just appears so thrilled whenever we remember to give him a carrot.
Then there is Costa. Costa is a 3 year old Holsteiner gelding who has yet to be started. I'm hoping he'll be my little superstar-he's been free jumped and has lovely form, and will also have the movement that I'm looking for in dressage. I've had him since he was 3 months old. He stands 16.1hh, but is still butt high so I'm hoping that he'll reach 16.3hh or so. He will be started this December.
Finally, my newest acquisition, Enrique, who I got in April. Rico is a 6 year old 17.2hh Trakehner gelding. He's a doll. Probably exactly what I need, as while he's young, he's also an old soul and gives me confidence. He hasn't had much time undersaddle (he was started as a 5 year old) but we're finally starting to get it together.
And that's the whole story!
