I've visited this forum a few times to poke around. I've been registered for a little while but still haven't posted.
I decided I would finally introduce myself! I'm Nixalba from Canada.
I own a 7 year Appaloosa/Thoroughbred mare named Lacey, show name Vintage Lace. I bought her as a yearling and we do dressage/western dressage together.
I also recently purchased another Appaloosa with a friend of mine. We had intended to keep him as a stud but circumstances forced us to geld him. We couldn't be happier with him, though. He is incredibly smart and very brave. He is only 4 years old and was basically only halter broke (though, the man had trail ridden him a handful of times but it was get-on-and-go... he has no training what-so-ever!).
However, I have already been on him both with a saddle and bareback (with my friend leading, since he still has no clue about the bit or leg aids). He had his first farrier visit ever today (I know!) He will longe and we have started working on other ground things, like bathing but it's too cold to continue that for now. He is taking everything in stride and we have not had a setback so far, only progress!
I will probably lurk a little longer to get to know the forums but soon hope to join the discussions!
