Smile And a Hello from Denmark!

    Hi everyone!

My name is Winnie and I am writing to you from Denmark.
Sorry, but I'm old - allready in my 40's. (time is running!)
I am a single Mum to two grown up sons.

I have had many horses for many years (untill 2003) and I went for Showjumping, dressage and 3 day event.
I have also worked a lot with youngsters.

I've been a riding instructor in Denmark for many years (also one year in the UK)
But after a divorce in 2003 I sold the horses and in 2004 I got lymph cancer - that suddenly changed my whole life radically.
Going from being a very active person for so many years, - my body totally slowed down.
But I was lucky - it's gone! The chemo therapie worked against all odds and now I just have to live with the annoying side effects.

But I got bored, tired of being tired and I missed the horses so terrible!
My energy was so small - so in 2005 I started to teach myself how to paint horses and today I live between horsepaintings, and I love it!!!
I needed to create many other different things, - to feel alive, to join the World - and I have been doing that ever since.

That was my way to get back on track, not the same track, but a new life related with horses.

So yes, may be I should be pleased about my "old" age - instead of being sorry!

    Winnie

    Hi!

I'm glad you were able to come through all you've been through and that you can enjoy horses again on a level that works for you.
If the avitar is any indication, I am really looking forward to seeing some of your work. It's beautiful!

Ok, as long as you don't ask me where exactly, because I don't know... I'll tell you that some of my family is from Denmark.
(Yes, we are some stubborn Danes!)

    Hi and many thanks!
    The World is small!!!

Yes the avatar is one of my paintings.
Here it is in a larger version:

I have made a thread on Horse Artwork with a few more examples.

I was wondering if I should add a photoalbum with some paintings, but I don't know - is that allowed??? (newbie me;)

The above picture is really nice. I like the monocromatic scheme using the blue hues.
And the pics on the artwork thread are wonderful too! Both the sulky pacer and the dressage horse really capture the feeling of the movement and impulsion, and the pony on the red background just seems to be lost in his/her own thoughts.
I really like art that "speaks" and lets the viewer know what is happening in the painting beyond the obvious.

Thank you so much, yes I try to be more abstract without loosing the spirit. I don't want them to look like photographs - and it's been a long and difficult process for me to "drop the reins"
I have just added many paintings in my Artwork thread.
