Hello From England

Hi everyone!

We are Hanna (26) and Rintje (5).

I am originally from Germany, living in the UK with my fiance. I bought Rintje in September 2009. Rintje is a Friesian gelding and after a rocky start with our riding - I.e. Hanna flying against fences, over fences, and right through fences when he ran off with me - we are finally becoming a team and are learning a lot from and with each other.

Rintje and I have always been very close right from the start and sometimes I wonder if he really is a horse or my puppy dog!
People keep laughing when they watch as he runs after me absolutely everywhere and can't let me out of his sight. And oh my god am I in trouble if he does not get my full attention 100% of the time...

After my last fall, which was the worst of them all, I decided it is time for Rintje and I to take riding lessons seperately. My instructor is riding him 3 days in the week and is giving me a lesson on a school horse once a week. I was not allowed on my horse during his training for the past 2 months but as he is making such good progress, I have now started to sit on him after he has been ridden by my instructor and cool him down. What can I say, I think this was the best decision I have ever made. It wont be long before I wont need the school horses any more and I can take lessons on Rintje. I look forward to that and cannot wait.

In the mean time I still go to the yard almost everyday and lunge him, do ground work or just play. He very much enjoys gymnastic exercises and we have recently discovered how much fun it is to play and try catch each other I know what this sounds like, but even my instructor has admitted that it seems to do us good.

I joined this forum because there might be a chance that we move to Chicago in future and I am curious to learn what it is like having a horse and riding in the USA.

Feel free to say hi to us anytime.

Take care,

Hanna & Rintje

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you have a wonderful bond with Rintje. At 5, he is still very young. I'm sure once you have the riding part sorted out, you will have a great partner in him.
