    Hello from Glide, OR

Hello, everyone. My name is Loyce and I live in Glide, Oregon. I've been married for 25 years to Ron and we have two children, a girl in her last year at Oregon State University and a son who graduated from high school and is joining the Navy.

We have 5 horses; the Arabian is my daughter's. We use our horses for trail riding exclusively, mostly in the mountains of Central Oregon. We also pack in to places with them and use them to pack out elk if we get lucky.

I particularly enjoy reading other's trail stories.

Hi and welcome! I'm new too, look forward to trail stories! I trail out behind the barn a few times a week BUT we just got a trailer so I'm going to broaden my horizons. Colorado Springs has some great trails if they aren't covered in snow.

    Where's Glide?

    Hi Loyce, (not Joyce?)
I am from WA state but I have spent some time in Central Or, one of the most beautiful places on this earth! You must be very lucky to have big wide open spaces to ride in.
I am 52, have two semi grown sons and live in the "burbs". I don't own a horse, but rather lease an Appy. He is an awesom trail horse. We just went on a nice ride in a nearby state park. Miles of trails up and down hill and a few views, but mostly heavily forested.
I have a lot to learn about heavy duty trail riding, like high lining and camping and all. I am pretty lightweight when it comes to trails, tho where my horse is kept we have no arena, so on a daily basis, I ride in the local horse park trails 3 times a week. Did a nice 2 hour ride in my dressage saddle but I am finding it hurts my knees. Getting old . . .

Glide is east of Roseburg on Highway 138. I was in Prineville earlier this year for the Back Country Horsemen Annual meeting.

You Washington State pictures look great. I have ridden up there out of Three Corner Rock and the PCT from Bonneville. It was some pretty country. Do you ride in or are you near the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest? I have their map and the place looks like riding heaven. Someday.
