hello from Louisiana!

Currently trying to find horseback riding lessons in my area, but am not having too much luck. I'm 22 years old now, and haven't ridden a horse since I'm about 10-11 years old. I'm really looking forward to getting back in the saddle and hopefully owning my own horse one day.

Which area of Louisiana? When I was stationed down in New Orleans there were riding/lesson barns all over the place. As well as out in the Slidell area. Granted LA is a lot larger than just the New Orleans area but there are barns throughout the state. Have you done a simple search through the phone book...yellow pages? Plenty of feed stores in the state as well...can ask there.

Howdy from Southeast Texas! What part of Louisiana are you in? I have family all across the southern part as well as horse show friends.

Where in Louisiana? I am also from the area, and I may be able to provide some help if your location is a bit more specific.

I'm about 60 miles south of New Orleans in the Houma/Thibodaux area. I've called 3 different places. I'm on a 6 month waiting list for one of them.

Hm, I'm very familiar with the area in general, but not so much with horsey stuff down there. A friend of my aunt's daughter used to take lessons in the general area, but I doubt that I'd be able to contact her and find out where. Would you be willing to drive to New Orleans or the BR area once in awhile to take lessons there? The barn in city park has a decent riding program to my knowledge, and I know of a few places that do lessons in Gonzales and St Gabriel (on your end of the BR area) I know of quite a few people that drive from Baton Rouge to the north shore for lessons and clinics... so the drive would be about a comparable pain :P
