Smile Hello from Oklahoma!

I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm Kelli from Oklahoma. First time horse owner and very excited to take this next step in my life. I have a great husband that has supported me through my first few stressful months as a newbie ( even though horses aren't his thing) and 2 really great children that are learning so much about responsibility and how to care for others. My horse Vin is a dream come true for me. He is a 10 year old Egyptian Arabian gelding, with impeccable ground manners and is rapidly becoming the love of my life. Due to a previous sports related injury, I was unsure if I would be able to ride, so we spent our first few weeks together on the ground working on grooming, leading, long walks, lunging....anything I could think of to get us to bond ( which I think we did the moment he stepped off the trailer). He comes when called ( or when he sees us drive up), talks to us when we leave;) and has a great sense of humor. He is gentle with my children and I hardly ever need to be stern with him.

I'm excited to get to know everyone and learn all I can! Plus if anyone knows how to download pics from and iPad or something, I would greatly appreciate it

Hello neighbor to the north! Welcome to the forum. I see you have an Egyptian Arabian, too. Wouldn't trade mine for the world, post some pics when you can.

Gigem88...I love my Arabian! From what people tell me, he is exceptionally calm for his breed, so that's a huge plus for me. He's only 14.2 hands, but certainly big enough for me right now. I saw pics of your grey, gorgeous!

Thanks for the welcome Rob! Looking forward to meeting people.

If you're anywhere near Tulsa Kelli, come join us at the Green Country Arabian Horse club. I'm about 1 1/2 hrs west, but I still belong and go to meetings and shows.

Welcome to Arabian horse ownership. Got a secret for ya, you're boy is not the 'calm exception', other breed owners just want us to think that way. LOL!

Lol Dreamcatcher. That's what I keep hearing from other breed owners! The qh's and tb's at our barn seem to have a stranglehold on "getting fired up". Vin will throw out a few snorts and prance himself around the pasture a couple of times, then come in for pets;) I think I will join GCAHA. I believe our barn manager is a member. From what I hear, he used to be pretty involved with the breed.

Howdy and welcome to the forum from another neighbor .

I can't help you on how to upload pix from an ipad, but I do look forward to seeing them whenever you figure it out.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/
