Hello from a soon to be NEW horse MUM!

Hi all. Stumbled upon your forum when I was searching for helpful hints on my new Quarter Horse Mare. I will be bringing her to her new home the first week of February. She is a ten year old registered quarter mare, named Skips Sundee Diamond. Dee for short.

I am in for a challenge with her as she has been out to pasture for a few years with no real riding being done with her. She also has the heaves. She isn't bad now and when I spoke with the vet I was told what to expect and I am prepared that something could happen any time.

But I need her in my life just like she needs me. I am prepared to pamper her. Our first mission is to start reconditioning. I have to remind her what it is like to be something other than a pasture fixture.

The last time I had a horse was when I was 19. Then life got in the way. I always swore that I would get another horse, just didn't realize it would take me 20 years.

Well, enough from me, just wanted to say hi and hope to get a lot of help from you all.

Once I get her to the stable where I will be boarding her, you can sure bet I will flood you all with photos! She is over an hour away right now, so I don't get up to see her very often.

I love to see people doing what they love to do! Good for you. Our horse was a pasture pet now at a boarding facility and he seems to be very comfortable there. Good luck rediscovering your passion!
