I just joined a bit ago. I live in the Midwest and have horses since I was 7. I've always had horses in my blood so to speak. I'm pretty easy going, worked with a few different breeds beginning with Arabians. I eventually wound up handling Quarter Horses, primarily race bred and showed in quite a few different disciplines. My first endeavors were dressage, but I got into reining while working with my Quarter horses. I also did non competition cross country but my favourite was showing in trail classes. My backround in dressage made trail classes and easy segue as I got older. I always loved the elbow grease aspects of horsemanship, my horses looked tip top. Everything from rubdowns to grooming!
Nice to be here! ?

Hi there.

I have just joined this forum too.

From having a bit of a look at a few threads it looks like I will have to join the 50's thread. Scary to think I am no longer "middle aged".
Iv'e posted in a couple of threads today, but I mainly came in here for support with driving.
My riding days are over due to a gardening injury which left me with a permenant CSF (Ceribro spinal fluid) leak. I get a debilitating headache if I am upright for too long.
So now my hack is becoming a driving horse. We will potter around the back streets of the town I live in and mosy down to the local supermarket when we are more confident. Nothing strenuous and never too far from somewhere I can tie him up and lie down if my headache becomes unbearable.

I have been involved with a few disciplines over the years....general stock riding, eventing, showing locally, riding clubs, dressage and SJumping, hunting. We use harrier hounds in NZ as we hunt hares.
My avitar is a photo of Fribbit who lives with me (in the house with a cat flap to an approx. 15meter x 8meter run.) The hares in NZ are European brown hares which were introduced in the 19th century. Foxes were not brought here thank goodness. I have done a fair bit of trekking in the mountains here in NZ. I have broken a few of my own horses in over the years and taken on some with unusual quirks and habits I have had to work through. I have always come to a fair understanding with most of the horses I have ridden and we have had fun together. I come from farming stock who have always been involved with horses and learnt much from my mother and grandmother growing up.

I see many threads go back a long way. I will not be reading every page to a longer thread, so I hope everyone is OK with me just joining in.....?
